⚒️ In the summer of 1994 West Ham played a pre-season match against Oxford City. Two minutes into the second half, the then West Ham manager Harry Redknapp had made all his subs and one of his players had gone down injured forcing him to play with 10 men. Throughout the game, Redknapp had been getting heckled by a West Ham fan by the name of Steve Davies who persisted in questioning his tactics and personel choices in attack. In an attempt to teach Davies a lesson, Redknapp turned to him, asked him if he could do any better and told him to go and get changed so he could come on. Davies stood his ground, suited up and came on up front in the second half for his one and only professional football appearance. But it doesn’t stop there because to everyones suprise he SCORED A GOAL and even Harry Redknapp admitted that on the day he was better than West Ham’s starting striker. On November 29th 2016, Ben Woodburn came off the bench in a EFL Cup game against Leeds United and scored to become Liverpool’s youngest ever goal scorer at 17 years and 45 days. The forward was compared to the previous holder of the record, Micheal Owen and was nominated for the 2017 Golden Boy award losing to Kylian Mbappe. This would unfortunately be Woodburn’s only ever goal for Liverpool, going on 4 different loans between 2018 and 2022 before leaving on a free for Preston.
