This is called the Zeigarnik effect. . How can it help me study? 🤔 Essentially through procrastinating, but STRATEGIC procrastinating!! The Zeigarnik effect can be used to help you learn faster/better if you strategically interrupt your study sessions, to create an “unfinished” state in which the material is fresh in your mind. This ultimately leads to better recall because you spend more time on your content (while getting other stuff done), and potentially even better understanding because when you’re not actively thinking of the problem, your brain might be able to process it differently. . How can I apply it to my study routine?? ✍🏼 1️⃣ Dedicated, Unfocused Breaks - plan short, strategic breaks throughout your study sessions to do something unrelated to the material (eg chores, physical activity)
2️⃣ Subject Switching - alternate between different subjects or topics 3️⃣ Read then Write - read the question and answer it in your head, before doing something else (eg answer an email or text), then come back and write the answer down
