because who doesn’t love noods! 🍜🤤 nood number 1: 손칼국수 (son-kal-guk-su) from 📍홍두깨 손칼국수 in Namseong Market so I used to live out of the smallest Airbnb known to mankind in a neighborhood called Bangbae, and the closest market was Namseong Market. whenever I felt stuffy or isolated in my little closet of an apartment, I would take a good long walk to the market and have these hand-cut knife noodles. the market attracts an older demographic which means they’re serving the toughest critics in Korea. grandpa and grandma couples, old friends catching up with each other, even strangers sharing tables with one another as so many solos came in to dine around lunch time. it’s the epitome of hole in the wall, no frills no fuss deliciousness, and it warms me up - body and soul - every single time 🥰

this hole-in-the-wall 분식 (pun-sik) place at the base of Seoraksan Mountain makes not only the best kimbap but the owners are so sweet 🥹 we got extra goodies for our hike, some secret kimchi jjigae on the side…i mean what more could you ask for ? and they’re open early so it’s the best place to go before you start your day at the mountain! 📍김밥천사, 1315 Joyang-dong Sokcho-si Gangwon-do
